Interfaith Partnership Statement in response to the Easter Sunday bombings in Sri Lanka
April 23, 2019
The Interfaith Partnership (IP) of Greater St. Louis and the 34 communities of religion and conscience we represent mourn the loss of life at a series of bombings in Sri Lanka targeting worshipers in Christian churches and others of all faiths in nearby hotels on Easter Sunday, April 21, 2019. Those of us who pray, pray for the victims and their families, and offer our prayers of healing for the entire community wounded by this violence. Those of us who do not pray dedicate ourselves to work tirelessly to create a world in which attacks such as this never occur. Together we condemn this attack and we stand in solidarity with our Christian communities in St. Louis and our region and remain grateful for their presence. As a community of many faiths and none we continue to pray and will continue to work for the day when all people can live in peace and safety.
As communities of faith, we agree to differ, promise to love, and unite to serve.
